On August 19, 2026, the 39th Regular Consultative Meeting between the China Fire Protection Association (CFPA) and the Japan Fire Protection Association (JFPA) was held in Tokyo, Japan. Wang Xin, Secretary‑General of CFPA, and Hitoshi Okiyama, President of JFPA, attended the meeting.

At the 39th Regular Consultative Meeting, on behalf of President Chen Weiming, Secretary‑General Wang Xin extended warm congratulations to Mr. Hitoshi Okiyama on his election as the new President of JFPA, and expressed sincere gratitude to former President Toshifumi Akimoto for his long‑standing contributions to the friendly exchanges between the two associations. The two sides held in‑depth discussions and reached consensus on recent work progress of their respective associations, the upcoming 40th Consultative Meeting to be hosted in China in 2027, the 38th goodwill delegation visit to China by JFPA, and training programs for key Chinese fire‑service professionals in Japan. During the meeting, the Chinese side briefed participants on the Association’s Science and Technology Innovation Award, while the Japanese side presented JFPA’s work on building regional disaster‑prevention capacity.

Since April 1985, when the two associations signed the Protocol on Establishing Friendly Association Relations and forged friendly cooperative ties, bilateral friendly exchanges have spanned 41 years. Over decades, the two associations have held annual regular consultative meetings focusing on shared fire‑safety and disaster‑reduction topics and carried out diversified academic exchanges. These efforts have effectively advanced fire‑protection undertakings in both countries and set a fine example for non‑governmental fire‑service friendship between China and Japan.

Following the meeting, accompanied by relevant Japanese personnel, the CFPA delegation conducted field visits and research at the new premises of JFPA, the Ikebukuro Disaster Prevention Museum, Karuizawa Fire Station, and the Oshino Village Fire Corps.
